Neighbors say the abandoned homes have become a nuisance and temporary resting spots for squatters.
"It's a larger than usual number because were trying to go through our list and trying to get properties that are the most extreme cases and either demolish them or take them back and rehab and resell the property," said Council Chair Joe Baldacci, "We already discussed this in committee and I think we're all ready to go forward with them."
